Hotel Costs
A senior client had to travel several hours for surgery and follow-up treatments. With early appointment times and long recovery days, the drive was just too much. With help from the tournament, we were able to cover some of the cost of a nearby hotel (which also gives our clients a discounted rate). Having a quiet place to stay offered much-needed peace of mind.
Wigs & Head Coverings
After starting chemotherapy, one client was devastated by her hair loss. She had a difficult time leaving the house, always being met with looks of pity. She was able to choose a wig and a few comfortable, stylish head coverings that suited her personality. It wasn't just about appearance. It gave her back confidence, dignity, and a sense of normalcy during a deeply difficult time. Even her family/friends couldn't tell that she was wearing a wig.
Volunteer Driver Program
A client of ours lived over 1.5 hours away from Cancer Care MB and had no access to a vehicle. Public transport wasn't an option, as the price was too much to afford. Thanks to the volunteer driver program, a friendly, familiar face picked them up for every appointment. The transport wasn't just practical, it was reassuring, consistent, and life-changing.
